Saudi Arabia. Wrapper of a packet containing photographic material sent by OVERLAND MAIL from Beirut on 3/5/1935 to Mr. Thomas W. Koch, Casoc's chief geologists in Jubail, in the Saudi region of Al Hasa. The package was routed by Overland via Baghdad - Basra - Bahrain. This route began to be operational as of 1 July 1933 as the British Indian administration started the Postal Service to the Saudi ...region of Al Hasa, indeed with transmission via Bahrain. Franked for 22.50 Piastres corresponding to postage of 15P rate for small packets up to 250 grams and 7.50p for the Registration service. On the back there is Basra transit cancel posted on 6/5/1935. MOST PROBABLY UNIQUE, SINCE NO OVERLAND MAIL ADDRESSED IN THE SAUDI'S REGION OF AL HASA WAS RECORDED TILL NOW. read more
