Envelope sent prepaid to Hahmed Bey in Constantinople during occupation of Algeria period from the post office of the "CHAMBRE DES DPUTS" in Paris on "26 SEPT. 1837" (red postmark for pre-paid letters) . Very high franking of 9 French Francs handwritten on back with other digits underlined by the two red seals "P.P." and "P.D." rarely used together. All paid by the "AMBASSAD...E DE LA SUBLIME PORTE" in Paris that used red wax to seal the envelope. Arrival postmark of Constantinople applied on the back four times on 16/10/1837. "Overland mail" letter sent from Mardin, Mesopotamia (now in Turkey) on 21 May 1861 via Halep to Alexandrette from the French postal agency and from Alexandrette on 10 June to Lyon via Marseille by French steamer. Arrived on 24 June and was delivered to the "Propaganda della Fede" President in Lyon. It was written by Father Nicolas de Barcelona, thanking for t...he credit's letters of 7200 french francs received for start an installation of Cattolic mission in Mardin.
