China, mixed Registered franking envelope sent from SHANGHAI on 5/9/1898 to Waremme Belgium paying 22ct by 4ct light-brown, 5ct red and 10ct green of first 1897 IMPERIAL CHINESE POST issue stamps together with single and pair of 1ct ocher 1898 issue stamps (Michel n 38, 39, 40 and 48) respectively canceled in black with the six bars, with "R" for registered mail and with the bilingual dc "SHANGHAI... 5 SET 98". The same day exchanged with the British Postal Service that provide to applied the black "R" in circle seal and cancel the two pair of Hong Kong 5ct blue stamps (Michel n 36b) by circular date-stamp "SHANGHAI C SP 5 98" and like route instruction made by linear seal "Per SS SALAZIE" was transmitted to the french steamer that affixed octagonal postmark "LIGNE N PAQ.
