Letter sent on 17-10-1857 from the Austrian Postal office and transmitted to the Lloyd office of Beirut to Alep via Alexandrette. Straight line (fig. 3 Cedar catalogue). Cancel of arrival "Agenzia del Lloyd Austriaco Aleppo" in blu. Prepaid 18 Kreuzer. RARE.

Cover sent from Emil Roggen (in arabic in the wax seal) from Bagdad to a relative in Switzeraland. The cover vas carried by Webber & Co. in Bagdad (bilingual forwarding handstamp on the back) to Beirut where it entered the mails at the Austrian office on 7 february 1864. The cover was sent prepaid in Beirut as indicated by the "Franca" seal (fig. 3 + 4 Cedar catalogue).The forwarder is not listed in Lowe's and suggests that the company was running a forwarding service from their office in Baghdad to the office in Beirut. A VERY RARE DESERT OVERLAND MAIL.

Double rated letter in hebrew from Beirut 19-3-1865 (fig. 5 Cedar catalogue), to Constantinople. Franked 40 soldi with Lombardy Venetia 10 soldi and 15 soldi (x2) Y.& T. 26 and 27. Cancel of arrival on 27 Lloyd office. RARE.

Enveloppe from Beirut sent on 16/11/1865 to Italy (fig. 5 Cedar catalogue in Brown). Sent by out mailbag to the Lloyd`s office in Smyrne where he was transferred to the Postal office for to carried to Brindisi. Very light fold effecting one stamp but RARE tree colors franking of 28 Soldi.

Complete stationery with reply card of 5+5 Soldi sent from Beirut on 15-3-1887 (fig. 7 Cedar catalogue) to Belgium, taxed by small "T" and paid directley by cash. It was because still franked with a Soldi value. Different transit cancels. A RARE LATE USE OF TYPE E CANCEL ON TAXED CARD.
